Annual report as a readable object

Annual reports are designed to be skimmed by twelve people and recycled by everyone else. Verso wanted one that their grantees would actually keep.
Approach
We turned the numbers into narrative: every grant became a one-page story, with the financial tables typeset as carefully as the essays. The format is A5 — a book you read on a train, not a brochure you balance on a desk.
Outcome
The foundation prints triple the usual run, and grant applications now reference stories from previous reports.
