Ember

Ember argues that some forests need to burn. The titles had to hold that uncomfortable idea — destruction and renewal in the same frame.

Approach

We animated the typography as if it were fuel: letterforms char, break apart, and reseed themselves as the sequence resolves. Everything was rendered from real particle simulations of fire behaviour data.

Outcome

The sequence screened at two documentary festivals before the series aired, and the typeface we cut for it now opens every episode.
